Design Rationale

A YA memoir about the struggles of teen life including depression, sexuality and relationships. I wanted the cover to have elements of fun while also representing the chaos of a teenager’s life and mind and the many important and inconsequential things running through it at any one time. The colour scheme was chosen to appeal to a wide audience, and the hand-drawn title to follow the looseness of the illustration. The filled in ‘O’ signifies the black hole that depression can feel like, while spot UV was used to add dimension and show how the darkness can also have hope.
