Hannah is a Sydney-based book designer with an eye for detail and a passion for books. She has 12 years experience working in the Australian publishing industry. The brief was to create a simple, classic and classy book about Snot!
To achieve this I created a clean, typographic design, featuring a large, textured title in a limited, modern colour scheme – with the chosen font reflecting Heath’s illustration style. I set the lettering on a slant to give the title movement like its running alongside Eric.
The internals are typeset in a modern semi-serif font with pull-out words that reference the title treatment.
I re-coloured every instance of Eric, adding Pantone neon green to exude his sliminess and make him really pop and stand out on each page.

- The cover has a matt varnish finish and is further embellished with a Spot UV gloss on the title, creator names and illustrations on the front, back and spine. The cover and internals all feature a 5x colour ink finish, with the main character, Eric, highlighted in Pantone Neon Green ink (Pantone 809) making him jump off the page with a vivid pop of colour!
