Sarah Mitchell is an illustrator and designer, specialising in children’s publishing. She is currently the Head of Design at Walker Books Australia and has extensive prior experience designing picture books, novels and series for a range of publishers, including Scholastic Australia, Hardie Grant Children’s Publishing and HarperCollins. Sarah draws on her training in Fine Arts and Graphic Design to create illustrations and graphics for book covers as well as providing art direction and technical guidance for illustrators.
Early in her career, Sarah had the honour of being shortlisted for the CBCA’s Crichton Award for new illustrators for her debut picture book, Starry Starry Night. She has served on the committee for the Australian Book Designer’s Association and as a member of the judging panel for the ABDA awards.
