Across the Risen Sea is a middle grade literary fiction novel set in a post-climate change world.

I wanted to create a sense of drama and adventure. I chose a simple colour theme with variations of blue to depict the ocean fish hiding amongst the waves. The characters and their boat are naively represented and are the main focus in the illustration.

The hand drawn typography follows the contours of the waves.

Elements of the cover and the type are used in the internal pages.
