We needed a plumbing series design that would stand out from a market saturated with daggy photo montages. A practical no-fuss approach was appropriate for future tradies; these spiral bound manuals travel onsite. Iconic illustrations were commissioned to represent the field and skill level of each title. Blue to connote water for the plumbing titles, and a ‘Hi Vis’ orange for the ‘brother’ stream of construction titles. The tone we were aiming for was simple but not amateur, masculine but not sexist, modern but not abstract, professional, but not too technical. A clean and methodical approach continues internally.
