About the Designer
Daniel works closely with publishers and authors to capture unique stories and bring their visions to life. He was previously art director and designer at Lantern, Penguin Books, where he worked for a decade with experts in food, lifestyle and design. He is an award-winning designer with over 20 years’ experience. Daniel was a founding member of the Australian Book Designers Association and in 2017 he founded ‘New Studio’ in Surry Hills, Sydney.

Artist and filmmaker George Gittoes has documented war-torn countries all over the world. He’s written poems, created drawings and paintings, and made documentaries and Bollywood-style movies about it all. He believes it is his duty to create where there is destruction. We wanted to capture George’s energy, and make this book feel like a personal artefact; a frenetic visual diary of his life. We asked George to hand-draw all the headings, plus add notes over the pages. For the cover, we asked George to start a new diary and hand-paint the lettering. So this book is literally the start of
