The brief came with a very strong, curious title. Charlie and the War against the Grannies. Who’s Charlie? What Grannies? The cover design is intended to create suspense of wanting to know what happens inside, hence a strong typography and a cropped troubled face of Charlie. The ‘eeep’ was added to emphasise Charlie in trouble. Flipping to back cover, you will see two hairy, wrinkly Granny hands squirting sauce bottles, with a cheeky back cover blurb designed to fit the package. The overall look tries to differentiate this book from other titles in the genre that are often quite crowded.
