About the Designer
Sue is an award-winning educational book designer with over 15 years experience in educational publishing. Her design career began when an opportunity arose in a niche publishing house working with the challenges of magazine design and layout. This was the springboard that propelled her to work across the gamut of design, art direction, illustration, printing and publishing. Sue is currently Design Manager at Oxford University Press and has been instrumental in refreshing the OUP brand.

The cover needed to reflect community work in it’s diverse forms without targeting one particular area. This was a tough brief and I didn’t want to go down the path of the collage. The quirky and diverse image of the pebbles immediately resounded and in combination with the colour palette and casual font, had an uplifting, positive note. Subtle aspects from the cover design were carried through to balance the professional feel of the internal design with an engaging, friendly tone .
