The brief changed after a 2 rounds of concepts from a straight commercial memoir about dealing with cancer to that of a self-help book with a humorous edge. The design creates the feel of a handbook gone wrong, mixing the modern retro look of Helvetica with humorous emojis and a bright orange to keep the whole thing positive. It was printed on the reverse side of the paper board with a machine varnish both of which help give the book a slight textural feel. The ideal special finish of physically ripping the front cover in half proved incredibly impractical.
