The brief for ‘For the Love of Meat’ is to raise awareness for responsible meat-eating. The overall aesthetic pays homage to classic butchery, featuring meat charts, etched illustrations, a chart-like ingredients list and copperplate-influenced typography. Collaborating with Alan Benson, the chapter openers are dramatic portraits of animals, reminding readers about the sentient nature of animals. Lifestyle shots are peppered throughout to add a layered narrative. I also worked closely with the publisher developing typographic spreads that highlight important animal-related messages while also providing necessary breaks between the 60 recipes. The graphic cover is embellished with debossing.
