I used the cut-up technique to write Kevin’s and Esta’s life stories; my process was influenced by visual poetry in the way I used the blank space to set the rhythm of the narrative and to give an aesthetic form to silence. I made many physical dummies of each volume, which allowed me to use my hands to measure space, to evaluate scale, and to edit and sequence the content carefully. Finally, after digitalizing my designs and running a pre-selling campaign, I worked with a local printer on transferring my hand techniques into a commercial printing process.
