As the opening book in a thirteen-book series, the cover design of Book One needed to reflect not only themes of action, history, dreams and reality, but be grounded by a dynamic visual that could be adapted for each book that followed. The number/title of each book became the main feature in which to frame mosaic images. Spot UV highlights additional key elements like the main characters and gears, without over-complicating the design. The internals build upon the cover with an opening mosaic, large chapter numbers, book-specific running headers and font changes that easily convey the reality and dream sequences.
