About the Designer
Imogen is the art director at Text Publishing, where she has worked as a book designer and production manager since 2011. She manages the book and marketing design program while also designing covers for literary fiction, non-fiction, young adult and middle grade titles. Cool, contemporary YA with crossover potential to early 20s were the key brief points. I happened upon the perfect portrait by illustrator Rachel Szopa and used the colour palette to bring together the text and border. While minimalist in its design the balance between bright and neutral meant it stood out on shelves and the portrait created an air of mystery and intrigue when coupled with the title. We printed it on reverse board to give it a tactile quality and bring out the texture in the illustration.
