About the Designer
Josh worked in magazine design before setting up his company Design by Committee under the mentorship of Australian book design luminary W.H. Chong. He draws upon a broad skill base to offer both illustrative and concept driven solutions to literary fiction, commercial fiction, YA, children’s, non fiction and illustrated book commissions for all of Australia’s leading publishers.

-
A surreal and satirical fable about life and death and reconciling things beyond our control. Written with heart, I loved this book! I hit upon the idea of using the red cross as a gateway between life and something else – he easily recognisable 3D shape giving way to something metaphysical. I hand drew the typography to reference the haste of a doctors scrawl (esp. the underlined title with full stop) and to give it a lightness of touch as a nice counterpoint to the heaviness of the imagery. This cover has great visual and emotional power and shelf presence.
