Imogen is the art director at Text Publishing, where she has worked as a book designer and production manager since 2011. She manages the book and marketing design program while also designing covers for literary fiction, non-fiction, young adult and middle grade titles. Organic and ornate, intricate and lush, an array of Australian flora and fauna were used to set the mood for this heartbreaking verse novel exploring love and death, grief and beauty. An illustration to intrigue the reader while also rewarding them with hints of the storyline the further they go. We wanted a way to reflect the beauty of taxidermy without it being off-putting. A rough, naivety to the type signalled the younger voice with gold foil utilised for a sparkly, bowerbird quality.
