This is a near-future dystopia novel for 8-12 year olds. Themes include survival, bravery, family and climate change – such a fabulous story, I had a lot to work with. The design conveys a sense of intrigue, drama and adventure. The malamute dogs have such a recognisable silhouette, it works well to have an action scene inside the shape. Red dust and dirt is also a prominent feature, I used different tones of red and created speckles on the edge of the cover. For the internal design I used paw prints and dog silhouettes in the chapter heads and text.
