About the Designer
Andy is an award winning Melbourne based designer. After graduating from RMIT in 2013, Andy interned then eventually worked as a designer at Hardie Grant Books. Working across a range of non-fiction titles, the work produced here led Andy to be awarded Young Designer of the Year in 2017. Andy is now working in-house at Five Mile as Senior Designer.

With the design we were looking to take this long-standing, children’s format of a lift-the-flap book into a cooler, more contemporary look and feel – for modern families. Each front cover represented the outside of an important cultural space/institution in our community … and the internals showed the inside rooms, with each spread a different room or exhibit area. The choice of fonts and use of arrows and other elements tie in with the playful, interactive style of the artwork.
