About the Designer
Hannah is a Sydney-based book designer with an eye for detail and a passion for books. She has 12 years experience working in the Australian publishing industry. This series design embraces raw edges and drips in the artwork to represent the natural state of each disaster – using beautiful type and muted colours to tie the series together.
The title treatment for Pandemic references posters from the 1919 Spanish Influenza. I used letterpress block-prints to create imperfections in the texture and add warm colour to the cover.
It is typeset in a rough serif font further reflecting the printing of the era.
It was very fitting that this book was created during a Pandemic, about a Pandemic, with the limited resources we each had on hand.

- The cover has a matt varnish finish and is further embellished with a Spot UV gloss on the title and creator names. Drought has a deboss on lettering.
