Design Rationale

This series design embraces raw edges and drips in the artwork to represent the natural state of each disaster – using beautiful type and muted colours to tie the series together.

The title treatment for Pandemic references posters from the 1919 Spanish Influenza. I used letterpress block-prints to create imperfections in the texture and add warm colour to the cover.

It is typeset in a rough serif font further reflecting the printing of the era.

It was very fitting that this book was created during a Pandemic, about a Pandemic, with the limited resources we each had on hand.
