The brief: Design a biography of a very rich subject and story: a woman born male who became transgender way ahead of her times. Her current work in “trauma” cleaning is a shocking and yet poignant reflection of life’s journey. Initial discussions involved complex narrative-style images, but the eventual solution landed on the visual of a cleaning glove — its reference to the title; its metaphorical relation to body parts; the twisting of its form. The run on subtitle inserts a casual note to the text block.
