About the Designer
Josh worked in magazine design before setting up his company Design by Committee under the mentorship of Australian book design luminary W.H. Chong. He draws upon a broad skill base to offer both illustrative and concept driven solutions to literary fiction, commercial fiction, YA, children’s, non fiction and illustrated book commissions for all of Australia’s leading publishers.

These are fantastical adventure stories with a key theme of writing and imagination. I wanted the series feel to be loose and wild- taking inspiration from the stories themselves to reinterpret the illustrative direction with only a few key series signifiers in the type treatments – a tricky but challenging proposition! The visual link between the series is the concept of the path made of book pages. Each book stands alone as a singular piece of design though also fitting perfectly within the series confines.
