About the Designer
Allison Colpoys is an award-winning designer and illustrator, and the Art Director at Scribe Publications. Her picture books include The Underwater Fancy-dress Parade, Under the Love Umbrella, If All the World Were… and All the Ways To Be Smart. As well as receiving numerous Australian Book Design Awards for her illustration and cover design, she has won the CBCA Crichton Award for Best New Talent and two Australian Book Industry Awards.

Davina’s story celebrates the ever-present love between children and their families no matter where they are. When Davina and I decided that the last few pages in the book would feature fireworks, I knew instantly that I would also like to have fireworks on the cover. I hoped to create a magical, joyful night-sky scene with the children from the book gazing up at it and the title of the book. The book and the cover are printed in 4 pantones so I think the main challenge (other than meeting deadlines!) was setting up and separating the files for print.
