About the Designer
Allison Colpoys is an award-winning designer and illustrator, and the Art Director at Scribe Publications. Her picture books include The Underwater Fancy-dress Parade, Under the Love Umbrella, If All the World Were… and All the Ways To Be Smart. As well as receiving numerous Australian Book Design Awards for her illustration and cover design, she has won the CBCA Crichton Award for Best New Talent and two Australian Book Industry Awards.

I just finished reading this wonderful manuscript when publisher, Jeanmarie Morosin, forwarded an email from Jane with a new cover direction idea. Jane attached a video of snow falling in a forest that inspired a scene towards the end of the book, where the two main characters stand in a clearing and watch rain turn to snow. I was thrilled, as that scene definitely felt the most evocative to me, and in keeping with key words in my brief: emotional and heartfelt. I sketched up this idea, and happily it was approved for me to work up the final illustration.
