Design Rationale

Yours Truly Alice Toolie is THE cutest story. In essence, it’s about friendship – filled with childhood experiences and all the fun and imagination that comes with this time. The illustration style is bold and fun, reflective in the tone of the main character, Alice. The book takes the form of letter writing, therefore handwritten fonts and scribbly pieces have been used to enhance this concept along with some well-suited washi tape. A&U was very supportive of my vision from the get-go, it was a dream brief saying that the cover must have an ‘over the top quality to it’.
