About the Designer
Sue is an award-winning educational book designer with over 15 years experience in educational publishing. Her design career began when an opportunity arose in a niche publishing house working with the challenges of magazine design and layout. This was the springboard that propelled her to work across the gamut of design, art direction, illustration, printing and publishing. Sue is currently Design Manager at Oxford University Press and has been instrumental in refreshing the OUP brand.

The cover portrays the joy of youth and speaks to individualism in today’s society. The lyrical font supports the imagery, working beautifuly with the boldy feminine tattoo. The text design continues the attitude of the bold cover, celebrating the joy and freedom of individualism with today’s youth. Part openers reflect on the strength of the individual, and relationships in our youth. I had to hold back the urge to grunge it up, as it still had to maintain crisp clarity for its academic content without too much distraction.
