The ABDA Committee are excited to announce submissions are now open for the next annual ABDA Showcase. This year our Showcase will be a four-part series focusing on the design elements of Colour, Pattern, Line and Shape.

ABDA Showcases are online exhibitions that celebrate the work of our Members through the lens of one theme or element. This allows us to expand our appreciation of book design outside of the competitive framework of annual awards, and focus on specific qualities. 

We are focusing on the building blocks of design and communication – Colour, Pattern, Line and Shape – to joyfully celebrate the skills displayed by book designers to create creative pieces that compel, engage and influence a publisher’s audience. So dig deep into your design education, and find your best example of your creative solution using primarily one of the chosen design elements.

We invite all ABDA Members at any stage of their career, to submit their design for one of the featured elements. These can include hand drawn, illustration, photographic, collaged, mixed-media etc. to be shared online and celebrated by our community.

Submissions are open to ABDA members, free to enter and there is no restriction on when the work was designed.

Line: 27 May
Shape: 3 June

Each Showcase will be published on the ABDA website 1 week from the closing date. Keep an eye on social media for updates!
