The design of A Food Lover’s Pilgrimage to France is consistent with Dee Nolan’s previous book A Food Lover’s Pilgrimage to Santiago De Compostela. The main challenge lay in creating the individual handcrafted linocut illustrations that feature throughout the book. They were designed with a strong medieval feel but with modern twists to reflect the author’s contemporary travels along the paths of ancient pilgrimages. The book’s cover illustration was embossed to give it a tactile quality.
