About the Designer
Pooja is an award-winning designer currently working as the Design Manager for Hardie Grant Egmont. Before stumbling upon her one true love – publishing – her design career has spanned across packaging, product, magazines, marketing and digital. In her free time, Pooja runs her own freelance business working with NGOs such as Footscray Community Arts Centre, Road to Refuge and Human Rights and Arts Film Festival.

The challenge was to create a series that would appeal to a child and the sophisticated adult purchasing the book, whilst still maintaining the integrity of Matt’s artwork in a crowded children’s non-fiction space. To draw attention to this series we developed a taller and narrower format that would sit above other books in this space with a grain lamination for a tactile user experience. To make the series feel more youthful I introduced a coloured foil on the cover with a matching CMYK quarter bind, an uneven typeface to introduce a playfulness and endpapers created from Matt’s naïve sketches.
