Design Rationale

The brief for this non-fiction series was to create cover designs which are dynamic, colourful and attractive to the 10 to 13-year-old age group, and also reflect the focus of the series on the life and discoveries of practitioners in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths. Engaging character illustrations are used to highlight the different STEM Stars featured in each book, which helps put them into focus as the main hero in the story. The characters are surrounded by icons, showing the different areas of discovery, as well as a lightbulb, which represents the moment of inspiration.
