Our approach was to reflect the author’s inherent style and energy. The process involved customised typesetting to mimic the creator’s hand-drawn drafts, digitally recreating the frenetic exuberance in an almost graphic novel format. The pages immediately lured readers in to pour over all the details – big and small – which bounce off and into the story. It was exactly the kind of playful, idiosyncratic and engaging design needed to feel authentically Jules Faber. On the cover, we provided art direction for Jules to elevate the main character to hero status, surrounded by active enticers and a call to arms.
