The brief called for a high quality catalogue showcasing recent work by Hockney, along with a 5 accompanying essays and full catalogue raisonné of Hockney’s iPhone and iPad works. With particular attention to the accurate colour reproduction of close to 2000 works, the page architecture and text setting was restrained and simple, in black and one PMS, so image colour could be chased on press without shifting the tone of extraneous design elements. Much care was also taken with the finishing on both books, especially matching screen printing on the hardcover with endpapers, internal elements and page gilding.
