Previously a magazine, this year’s Early Harvest (dreams edition) was designed and published as a book. The design brief was set by 15 eleven-year-old students acting as editors — they wanted lots of fonts, colours and textures! In addition to that, there was a plethora of disparate elements that all needed to sit together — different illustration styles from different illustrators, a Choose your Own Adventure story and a flipbook running across the bottom. Cohesion was brought about by using subtle changes in typography, consistent use of dream imagery and paper textures in the background.
