About the Designer
With a background in design and branding in Australia and the UK, Klarissa launched Pfisterer + Freeman in 2000, specialising in book projects for publishers big and small and for independent authors with an idea or story to share. She is based at the Abbotsford Convent Arts Precinct, Melbourne.

Illustrator Anna Walker and I share a studio space, so this was an ideal paring for close collaboration! We enjoyed discussing all aspects of the project, right from the sketch stage. The result is a lovely light touch and spaciousness to the pages, allowing the reader to focus on the emotional intimacy that develops between Jack and his dad. The cover title was hand-inked in parrot-green to capture that scratchy parrot voice. The title pops further on a debossed speech bubble and Jimmy’s magical effect on Jack and his Dad is enhanced through his glossy scattered feathers.
