This lively memoir documenting the authorís year without booze offers real insight into the history, traditions, and social pressures of why Australians drink. Because the memoir is witty as well as informative, I wanted to create a sense of fun with a strong emphasis on the clever title. Making it immediately obvious to readers that this book is about alcohol, the typographical cover uses cover copy to make up the shape of a recognisable alcoholic beverage, a beer bottle, which was the strongest option we tried and fitted best with the author’s tone.
