This book follows a chef who lost everything and his rise from the ashes. The challenge was to create a design that equalled the boldness of the narrative, but not distract from the photography. The prelims are a memorial to the past set on black pages. Predominantly set in Berthold Akzidenz Grotesk, the grid allows for breathing space and the narrative is time-stamped with a tag set to the outside of the pages, giving the book an archival aspect. A custom artwork covering the case & screen printed block gives the impression the book has been pulled from the fire.
