The book features two PMS inks, a deep forest green and an unnatural and contemporary vibrant green. A play between the natural and scientific informs the design and a square grid reminiscent of Laurence’s modular installations forms the basis of the layout: referencing the Periodic Table in the contents, as a device to divide pages and hold images, for title pages, and graph paper in the end matter. Margins, type and images also fit this grid. The main typeface is elegant with hard, flat slabs which sit nicely with the visible grid lines. The secondary font lends a scientific feel.
