Law Alive utilizes a combination of geometric shapes interwoven with textures, subtle extracts and symbolic references to political, social, economic and cultural life in New Zealand. The intersecting shapes give reference to bothcollaborations (rather than finding a winner or loser) and conflicts (rules and regulations to everyday problems: commercial dealings, family disputes, crime etc). Thick horizontal lines divide the title elements and bring a level of stability and order in an otherwise chaotic cover design. Textures in the cover are carried through the internals and are used to subtly soften the design while still maintaining an overall authoritativeness.
