My design approach was to treat the cover and internals with a hand-made approach that complimented Beth’s collages. ‘Paperboy’ is a journey through key moments of a boy’s life – using paper as metaphors throughout the story.
I developed this idea by using paper letters for the title-treatment incorporating Beth’s textures.
A close working relationship with the illustrator ensured the storytelling flowed well on each spread. This font was chosen as it has eight variations of each letter. This allowed me to specifically choose each letter to give it a ‘hand-lettered’ look.
