The publisher wanted these covers to encapsulate the series storyline; two Australian teenagers of Italian descent who, every time they go to sleep, ‘dream’ about being in Italy and living all sorts of Italian adventures. The cover uses the silhouette of the two main characters as a window to iconic images of Italy. Being in two worlds at once encourages the processes of noticing, questioning, and developing deeper awareness of how language and cultural conditions shape identity. Playful illustrations mirror how fun it is to learn a language. The colour palette and cursive schoolbook font lend an undeniably Italian flavour.
