The cover brief was for a ‘distinct and captivating’ series design for Humanities Victoria years 7-10. The cover design concept uses the Victorian engraving to represent humanity in the context of the curriculum content. Responding by creating a layered collage vista of slightly disparate yet relevant elements incorporating the Year number as an almost architectural construct. The internal design required a clean, spread-based approach, with clear signposts for the informational elements. The layout flows easily with strong connection between text and images. A fluid grid allows variety in page layout and accommodates the requirements of individual subjects covered in book.
