Planet City is one part of a major commission for the 2020 NGV Triennial. Planet City speculates about the population of the world in 2050 (10 billion people), living in a single gigantic city, allowing the rest of the planet to ‘rewild’. Counterintuitively, the speculation is not dystopian. The book contains a diverse and global mixture of writing, from dense theory to science fiction, interspersed with immersive visual sequences from the city. Instead of a large ‘cinematic’ art book, this book is like a chunky pocket sci-fi paperback, with a solar panel cover and a special glowing fluoro CMYK separation.
