The line “A pig who thinks he’s a dog” made me think about identity and transformation, and an image of a man turning into a werewolf during full moon came to mind and I dwelled on the magical powers of a moon and shadow play. In moonlight, Marty the pig’s shadow casts his true nature – a dog! This book shows us that friendship, love and loyalty is boundless. The lettering is playful and inviting. I wanted the look and feel of the cover to capture the whimsical feel of the story, while appealing to the younger audience.
