The Bad Guys series was inspired by pop culture films and classic bad-guy characters. The brief was edgy, filmic, modern, striking, original and funny. A colour palette of grayscale with a lurid PMS is a nod to old-school cinematography whilst establishing a strong series look that packs a punch in a saturated market. Gloss lamination enhanced these colours, with spot matte adding a tactile quality to the chalky hand-rendered typography. This series was exceptionally fun to design, using a serif font for breathing space and playful pullout words in a contrasting font to complement the fast-paced, comic-style illustrations.
