Aim: to communicate the value of scientific research to 8 to 12 year olds. The book has two parts – a fictitious story and a set of real life scientific discovery stories. It was important to make the two distinct, to avoid confusion between fact and fiction, common in young children. I achieved this by using a narrator character, different colour schemes and the ‘scrapbook’ panel layout. Furthermore, the back of the book lists everyday technologies developed thanks to space research, which can be found in the panels of the fictitious storyline.
