The challenging design aspect of this title was to spread a rather light manuscript over many pages and still look dense enough to show value to the consumer. Luckily, Julian Kingma’s portraits and food photography are so beautiful that I was able to design a minimal ‘gallery’ vibe, with large white borders and brutalist san serif fonts. The cover shows a literal snapshot of the internals while remaining minimal. A red spine and back cover references the red spice mixture of the Nashville hot chicken.
