I was lucky enough to read a draft MS for this book before starting my design and fell in love with the story and the very Australian flavour that it had. I wanted to portray a sense of Australia ain the 1970s, without it being cliché. Finding vintage flora and fauna illustrations allowed me to tap into our unique beauty, and the addition of the cheeky cockatoo peering through the hand lettering only adds to the charm. The concept is set up to be like an invitation, inviting the reader into the book and into the characters lives.
