About the Designer
Sandy has been designing books for more than 20 years. In 2004 and 2005, she won the Best Designed Book of the Year at the Book Design Awards. In 2011 she was the 7th person to be inducted into the Australian Book Design Hall of Fame. The author mentioned artist Daniel Lint in the brief. Round two, I included some existing collages and suggested we commission something. Under lock-down across time-zones, Daniel was limited to existing magazine clippings so I highlighted details from existing work that I loved, hoping he could digitally cut them in. Round seven, we were close but I felt missing a sense of place – outback, ocean. I thought including these would guarantee cover meeting success. I sent Daniel some high res images to add somehow. Round nine, the final other-worldly, hopeful and striking collage arrived. Magic.
