The format was chosen to bridge these markets and genres. Our approach was to design a highly visual, bold, fun and active book. This was the illustrators first book, the illustrations were supplied in different mediums and line weights etc. I requested they were supplied in black and white line so we could introduce different graphic elements to draw the text and illustrations together and adding layers to the visual narrative. We coloured all the elements and illustrations. Having a strong colour palette was integral to make it an energetic and a cohesive publication.
