This Small Blue Dot was designed to reflect the personality of the young girl at the heart of the book: imaginative, funny, inclusive and hopeful. She is drawn in graphite pencil but travels through the vivid, coloured world of her imagination, which is drawn in crayon. I wanted the design and illustrations to feel approachable, personal and handmade with recognisable mediums that are accessible to children. I hope that this will give young readers a gentle nudge to create their own artwork and messages for future generations in the spirit of This Small Blue Dot.
