About the Designer
Josh worked in magazine design before setting up his company Design by Committee under the mentorship of Australian book design luminary W.H. Chong. He draws upon a broad skill base to offer both illustrative and concept driven solutions to literary fiction, commercial fiction, YA, children’s, non fiction and illustrated book commissions for all of Australia’s leading publishers.

I wanted to subvert the traditional series feel a bit and focus on creating powerful emotive imagery for each title. To make each cover a visually compelling installment in its own right. My first thought was to keep the typography clean and minimal and to give myself the flexibility of moving it around a bit while keeping the same look. I created the artwork for each title based on a pre-concieved visual concept- some are photo collages, some are a touch more illustrative. I wouldn’t rule out a full blown illustrated example for one of the next books!
